New: the KUKO bassinet by Charlie Crane!

You asked us, we did it! The KUKO bassinet joins our range of beds to make life easier for parents and their babies in style. The Charlie Crane team, led by Thomas Lépine, entrusts us with the genesis of this novelty.
Nouveau : le couffin KUKO par Charlie Crane !

How did the idea for the bassinet come about?

This idea had been on our minds for a long time. We have a baby bed, an extendable bed, a cradle... A bassinet was missing! The first version of KUKO was in the boxes of Mum and Dad Factory, of which we are the publisher. We reworked the design to make it repeatable and removable. We like to combine design and practicality.

What does a Charlie Crane version of a bassinet look like?

We added handles to carry it. The support was designed by Gaspard Tiné-Berès, our design department manager, in agreement with Mum & Dad. It seemed important to us to add pendulum-shaped feet. Much like our KUMI cradle, the KUKO cradles babies. This millennial movement helps them have sweet dreams (but not full 8 am nights!!).

Our signature is also to pay attention to materials and production. Gaspard took our favorite material, wood, and gave it curved shapes. The wood is raw beech. The cotton in the bassinet is organic. Our materials are natural, our manufacture is French. We want something beautiful and good!

Let's talk about design now... How much time is needed between idea and market launch?

All in all, it takes a little over a year and a half! This is the time needed to finalize all the design details. We make a lot of prototypes until we get the perfect product. In addition, baby products must pass tests in order to obtain specific standards. The KUKO obviously passes the standards of cradles... to which we add our own requirements, such as organic textiles or French manufacturing.

The KUKO bassinet joins his friends KUMI, KIMI, NOGA... Where do the names Charlie Crane come from?

We want short names that are easy to remember. We work with a simple system of two syllables composed of a consonant then a vowel, and so on. Afterwards, we make a list of proposals to the team and... we go to the vote! These meetings give rise to intense moments!

What are the special features of KUKO compared to other baskets?

Beyond a controlled aesthetic, it is more comfortable for the baby and more secure than a classic or straw bassinet. The integrated mattress has a thickness that is very pleasant for the toddler. The foam is firm, honeycombed and therefore very breathable for babies.

If necessary, it is removable and easily washable. Between its high ledges and the base, it is very secure. It combines the advantages of the Moses basket that can be moved as you wish and a cradle on foot that swings the child. Two products in one...
