Interview Charlie Crane x Lisa Gachet

How did you meet Charlie Crane and how did you choose the reasons for this collaboration?
It's a brand that I love, my children have Charlie Crane furniture and we actively follow each other on social networks: probably because we have a common love for objects.
useful and colorful!

Do you use Charlie Crane furniture for your children on a daily basis? And if so, which ones?
Yes, I used the LEVO lounger a lot and at the moment the KIMI bed for my son.

Where does your love of color and patterns come from?
I have always been drawn to things that are colorful and shiny. I like that color can serve as a personality trait, that it can make an impression and appeal positively. I think there's too much of a tendency to normalize grey-black-beige in everyday outfits. For me to put color is to show audacity and courage. Besides, it's contagious, like a smile.
Would you be able to live in a beige and white interior? For what? I think it would take a lot of effort to live in a neutral interior, a white shell to furnish. Having a colorful cocoon calms me as much as it inspires me. Color is my safe place.

Can you give us some tips for combining the love of patterns and colors in your home, even for the most timid?
What helps is to be able to project myself: I work a lot with physical mood boards, papers in grape or big eagle formats to test combinations of colors and patterns.
You can also put certain objects side by side to see if they work well together. If you don't dare to repaint a wall, you can simply stretch out a large piece of colored fabric. You can hunt for furniture and repaint it with strong colors or even play on smaller objects such as illustrations or ceramics. All you have to do is get started!

We know that you have always had a great love for the world of children. There have even already been a few Make My Lemonade pieces for kids. Is a child MML line a project?
The world of children is already a very competitive sector. I prefer to create collections occasionally as we did when it makes sense rather than competing with those who have been in the business for a long time.

Can you introduce us to your family?
My family consists of my lover Kevin, Suzanne (2 years and a half), Lazare (1 year old) and my cat Frida aged 13.

You have two children in a short time. In your opinion, what can you do to survive the short years while being a mompreneur?
First of all, we must distinguish between the two in the way we operate: a family is not a business. It is less linear, a lot of effort does not necessarily mean a lot of success. I think you have to know how to let go, accept that things are imperfect, that daily victories may be tomorrow's failures (and that doesn't matter). And above all: take the days as they come, with philosophy, and savor every moment because it goes by quickly.

And how to combine children's decor and adult decor in the same room?
By focusing on color, of course! It invites us to reconnect with our childhood soul and can very well reconcile the universe of children with that of adults.

Last but not least: can you share with us your good addresses for a Kids Friendly day in Paris (shopping, going out, food...)?
When the weather is nice, I go for a ride on my Gaya bike with my little tribe behind me. Recently, I discovered the Jardin des Dunes et des Vents in La Villette, a giant playground that I highly recommend! For the more artistic side, I really like the introduction to music courses designed for children at Le Bon Ton, in the 9th arrondissement. And lunch at the Bao Express: they have a great children's menu.
