Bébé à la plage : nos conseils et astuces

Operation Shadow

A baby's delicate skin is extremely sensitive to sunlight. Avoid exposing babies to the sun. Bring sunglasses, hat, anti-UV t-shirt, sun cream SPF 50, swimsuit and umbrella (an anti-UV tent or teepee also do the trick) to ensure its protection. Choose times when the sun hits less strongly, namely in the morning or late afternoon. If you go to the beach with your stroller and leave your baby in it, bring an umbrella to protect the baby. We are fans of diapers, but this soft fabric is not sun protection. It can block the passage of air and quickly turns the stroller into an oven. Finally, think of the fogger to gently spray your baby. Also, take a bottle of water in a cooler to clean your baby's hands, prepare his bottle, give him a drink... Also, don't forget to drink if you are breastfeeding.

Bathing operation

Before going to the beach, you should know that babies under 6 months old should not be bathed in a pool or body of water. The health risks associated with cold water, germs in water, and even ear infections are too great for young infants. Ask your pediatrician for advice before going on vacation, he will give you his advice. When your baby is over 6 months old and does not have any pathologies, you can start bathing him. Start with your feet, when the waves come to kiss your toes. Check how your baby is responding. If he likes it, you can gradually go higher and deeper. Every baby is different, so take your time and observe your little one closely.

Drying operation

Babies quickly get cold in seawater. You will quickly notice if he is shivering and... watch out for the little blue lips. In these cases, quickly start the drying operation. Change your baby to a dry suit and wrap him in a nice, fluffy towel. Some children also don't like to be soaked or can't stand the sand... So remember to take large towels, which will also be useful for putting your baby on or changing his diaper.

Operation Let Go

The beach is sometimes an ordeal for some parents. Sand gets everywhere, your baby won't stop eating it. He licks the little toys soaked in salt water... Take a deep breath (do you know cardiac coherence?) and let go. Your baby discovers the world. Encourage him to explore, keep an eye on him, and let his reactions surprise you. The beach is full of surprises!
